M.Sc.

The duration of the M.Sc. program is 16 months.  Students may register on May 1 (field students) or September 1.  Students must complete one graduate course (0.5 full-course-equivalent – i.e. a half-course) chosen from the Courses of Instruction (the Faculty Research Course is recommended).  A thesis is completed under the direction of the student’s supervisor, assisted by an advisory committee, and defended at a departmental oral examination. ... read more

Two graduate programs are available in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology – Plant and Microbial Biology, and Zoology – and students may register for either MSc or PhD studies in both programs. For most students the choice of program is automatic once they have chosen a thesis supervisor since EEB professors are typically affiliated with only one of the programs. There are exceptions, however, and students should clarify their graduate program with their thesis supervisor. ... read more

Collaborative Programs allow students to simultaneously experience graduate opportunities in both their parent department and another program. Students can register in these programs after being admitted to the EEB graduate program.
