Employee Self-Service
    Through ESS, you can:
    Change the following profile information:
    • Home address
    • Emergency contact information
    • Direct Deposit bank account information
    View the following personal Information:
    • Printable pay and tax statements (including T4)
    • Benefits information
    • Employee profile
    • Home address and emergency contact information
Emplying students and casual staff
    There must be a signed letter of offer in place before employees, including graduate students and casual employees, start work and before we do any payroll entry. Please provide the payroll administrator with sufficient notice so that the letter can be prepared. The letter must be signed by the Chair.

    Employees who are new to the University payroll database must provide the following documents before they can be paid:
    • Banking Authorization Form
    • Void cheque or printout from bank with account information
    • TD1 Tax Form
    • TD1-ON Tax Form
    • Photocopy of Social Insurance Number (SIN) card
    • Photocopy of study permit, if not a citizen or resident of Canada
Employing Postdoctoral Fellows
    Postdoctoral fellows may be funded by the department, by faculty research grants or by external funding. All postdocs, no matter how funded, must be registered with the University Postdoc office.

    For international Postdoctoral Fellows, please consult the University of Toronto Immigration Information website well in advance.

    We are required to have a signed letter of offer in place before postdocs start work and before we do any payroll entry. It can take several days to acquire all the relevant documents.
