A pair of genes have been identified which can be used to catalogue the world's plants using a technique known as DNA barcoding.  Ecology & Evolutionary Biology's Spencer Barrett is the head of the Canadian plant barcoding working group and the story was featured in the University of Toronto's Bulletin.
