EEB Outstanding TA Award 2010-2011

The recipient of EEB's Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for 2010-11 is:

Susana Wadgymar (Weis lab)

This annual award, started in 2007-08, recognizes the important role of TAs in our department and publicly honours the efforts, talents, and dedication of TAs who make an exceptional contribution to the learning experience of their students. Students nominate their TA for this award.

Past recipients are: Alison Cloutier (2007-08), Rob Colautti, Rob Ness,
Murilo Peixoto, and Paul Venturelli (2008-09), and Emily Austen and
Jeffrey Harsant (2009-10).

Susana TA'd in both BIO120H Adaptation and Biodiversity and EEB319H
Population Ecology in 2010-11. A student in EEB319H wrote:  “Not only is
Susana is the most friendly and approachable TA I have ever encountered
in my time at the University of Toronto, but she has also helped me
tremendously on my personal journey through my academic career. Susana
is very knowledgeable in the area of ecology and evolutionary biology
and has been able to explain any question I have come to her with,
regarding both course material and other areas I am interested in, such
as research. She is so positive to be around that she has further
fuelled my own interest in research. Susana deserves the award more than
any other TA I have ever met.”

BIO120H also recognizes TAs that have been highly effective instructors
in the laboratory, as evaluated by all students. Recipients of a BIO120H
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for 2010-11 are:

Lifei Wang (Jackson lab)
Robert Williamson (Wright lab)
Amanda Gorton (Stinchcombe lab)

Congratulations to all!
