The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) offers graduate opportunities leading to both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

The Department supports approximately 120 graduate students being supervised by 50 faculty members on the St. George, Mississauga and Scarborough campuses of the University, as well as by scientists at the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Research expertise of the faculty includes anatomy/physiology; behaviour; behaviour genetics; bioinformatics; community, population, ecosystem, landscape, evolutionary ecology; conservation biology; developmental biology; genetics/genomics; microbiology; molecular evolution; plant biology; taxonomy/systematics; theoretical biology.

Graduate Admissions

Applications for May and September 2012 and January 2013 admission will be considered on a continuous basis beginning December, 2011, until our departmental admissions targets are met. The first major review will consider all applications complete by January 15, 2012.  All the relevant application information can be found HERE. As a first step in the application process,  applicants should contact professors at one of the three campuses of the graduate department, to discuss possible projects and financial support. Only students who have a committed research supervisor can be admitted.
